What about Israel's attack on the USS Liberty in 1967?

One of the old stand-by's of dishonest anti-semites is the unfortunate "Friendly Fire" incident of Israel's attack on the USS Liberty in 1967.

The USS Liberty was a CARGO SHIP -- a liberty ship from World War II -- converted into a signals listening ship for the National Security Agency (NSA). It was sent into the Mediterranean -- whiel the USA lied to the world -- to listen in on the war between Israel and its Arab neighbors.

o The US Ambassador to the United Nations assured the world that there were NO US ships in the region. The nearest ship was 400 miles away.

o The tragedy occurred because the Captain of the USS Liberty committed TREASON and failed to obey his orders. THE ORDERS WERE BROADCAST 12 HOURS EARLIER TO LEAVE THE AREA. The Liberty would have been 100 miles away had the Captain not disobeyed his orders.

The Liberty was a signals-listening ship -- specializing in monitoring RADIO traffic on many frequencies. Yet the fig leaf by the US Navy was to say that the USS Liberty was listening to the wrong radio frequency for its orders. It was a SIGNALS LISTENING SHIP !!!!!!! The truth is that this exposed the inability of the Pentagon to control its ships at see, during the Vietnam War with a live war going on. This was a terrible situation to be revealed. So the US Navy covered up the Captain's treason in disobeying his orders.

o The day before, the Israeli air forced bombed and strafed an Israeli tank column. MISTAKES HAPPEN.

o Israeli jets flew out to investigate what they thought was an Egyptian ship,

o THE ISRAELI JETS WERE NOT PROPERLY ARMED TO SINK A SHIP

If Israel intended to attack an American ship -- or ANY ship for that matter -- the fighter jets would have gone out properly armed with bombs and torpedoes.

The fighters were scrambled to investigate what Israel thought was an Egyptian ship bombarding an Israeli force in the Sinai Peninsula.

There was no plan.

o It took almost an hour for Israeli torpedo ships to arrive.

If Israel had planned on attacking a ship -- any ship -- the torpedo ships would already be on location in the area.

o Israel spent 90 minutes strafing and circling the unknown ship. IT WOULD HAVE TAKEN 3 MINUTES TO SINK THE SHIP with the proper armament or with torpedo boats on station.

o Once the nationality of the ship came into question, ISRAEL STOPPED THE ATTACK.

If the attack were intentional (that is, as to a US ship, rather than an intentional attack on a HOSTILE ship), Israel would not have stopped the attack until the ship was sunk.

If the attack were intentional, Israel would have continued the attack to kill all the witnesses.

o In fact, it was the torpedo boats that called off the attack. The torpedo boats could have sliced the USS Liberty into shreds of tin foil. But as soon as the torpedo boats got close, one of the captains called off the attack, realizing that the ship was American.

o It is undisputed that the USS Liberty FIRED FIRST at the torpedo boats.

o It is undisputed that the torpedo boats fired one torpedo -- causing most of the damage -- AFTER THE USS LIBERTY OPENED FIRE WITH ITS DECK GUNS.

o In spite of being fired on, the Israeli torpedo boats still STOPPED the attack once they started to doubt the nationality of the ship.

o The US air force had spy planes in teh area watching the battle between israel and the Arabs.

o The US intercepted the radio communications -- on tape -- between Israel's fighter jets, helicopters, and torpedo boats and headquarters.

o The radio intercepts prove that the Israeli jets, helicopters, and torpedo boats DID NOT KNOW that the ship was American, nor did HQ.

o Even after the torpedo boat captain called off the attack, Israeli headquarters gave instructions on where to take the prisoners IF THEY SPOKE EGYPTIAN, and a different location if they spoke English.
